What does it mean to be considered normal? Its actually a lot harder to define than you would think. Normal can be thought of as everyone living and behaving by the values that are deemed appropriate. Sounds rather simple at first, but then comes the realization that not everyone accepts or believes in those values. In my opinion, normal has no true definition because there are so many cultures around the world with their own beliefs and values that are different from our own. Those cultures would also have their own vision of what they consider to be normal as well.

Building legos has always been one of my favorite ways to pass the time. Out of all the legos I have built over the years none are more memorable than the Bionicle sets. Bionicle is what started and ended my passion for legos. Unlike most Lego products which were building block versions of well known franchises such as Star Wars, Bionicle was unique in the fact that it had an ongoing story that was expanded upon with the release of a set. They were released yearly so I was always excited to obtain the latest versions, and learn what happened next in the story. Of course all good things must come to an end, and 2010 Lego pulled the plug on Bionicle. After its cancellation the fiery passion I had for building legos just went out. I tried getting other lego sets, but they just didn’t reignite my drive to build. Even the series that replaced Bionicle couldn’t get me back into it either. I began to wonder if my lego building days were done for good. So imagine my surprise when I learned that Lego would be relaunching the Bionicle series in 2015. I’m filled with anticipation for what the relaunch will hold. Whether its good or bad I’m just glad Bionicle is back. When you break a routine that you have done for a long time to the point where it is practically tradition, you get all these strange feelings. The most significant times I have ever broken a routine was this and last year. Last year on Halloween was the first time I had ever broken a routine. It was essentially an unspoken rule that on Halloween I went trick or treating, but that unfortunately did not happen last year. I had a good amount of homework assigned to me that day, so I spent the entire night working and not taking part in the festivities. The way I felt had afterwards can only be described as odd. I felt like I had just done something terribly wrong and there was no way to fix it. This year I broke my routine of always walking home after school was finished. After I had obtained my drivers license my mom was quite adamant about me driving to and from school. I was apprehensive about it at first, because it would disrupt a routine that I had done for a couple years and had grown quite accustomed to following. The whole process was rather simple: my parents drop me off at school in the morning and when school is over I just walk home. I did not understand why my parents wanted to throw away a system that had worked so well. When I first started driving to school it all felt really strange to me. It felt like I was in some bizarre new world rather than my own. When I think about it breaking a routine is not a bad idea. It shows that you are willing to break out of your comfort zone and try something new. http://themeaningmovement.com/how-to-break-your-routine/ |
